HINI Lecture (free) - Calgary, Alberta, November 18, 2009 (more details to follow)

Dedication of an MICU Ambulance donated by Sam and Betty Switzer of Calgary, Alberta took place in Tel Aviv on October 29, 2008. From left to right, Sarah Bernamoff, Fanny Wedro, Nehama Switzer, Rachel Switzer, Susan Rose, Agnes Romer-Segal and David Rose. Yonatan Yagodovsky, Director of the International Department of MDA made a  moving speech about the devotion of Sam Switzer and his Family to MDA and Israel. He mentioned that Sam's late wife, Betty, sadly passed away a short time before this ceremony could be held and, unfortunately, did not have the privilege of seeing the realization of this particularly meaningful family project.

Norton Segal, Q.C., National President of CMDA and Arnold Rosner, National Executive Director of CMDA both brought greetings for the occasion. Present at the ceremony were participants in the 2008 MDA Mission from Canada, as well as representatives from the 17 other MDA chapters worldwide. Fanny Wedro, a member of CMDA's National Board, officially represented Calgary Friends of MDA as its Vice-President and represented Dr. James Cohen and Samuel Wainer, Co-Presidents of Calgary Friends of MDA, who could not be in attendance.

Many Family and Friends of the Switzers were also in attendance. The ceremony was particularly moving for members of the Switzer family living in Israel, and especially for Nehama and Rachel Switzer, the grand-daughters.
